Chopin for a Summer’s Evening: Saturday June 16th 2018.

Saturday 16th June 2018

Time 7.30pm

There is something almost celestial about some of Chopin’s piano music – this is the only solo instrument for which he composed – and some of it is the opposite, full of strong, earthy emotions. None of it is easy to play well, and only pianists with a high degree of musicality, technique and a generous measure of life-experience can do full justice to its exquisite demands.

In Angela Brownridge we have just such a one, and we are honoured and excited to be welcoming her to the Priory Church in midsummer 2018 for a concert of Chopin waltzes, polonaises, studies and ballades.

This British pianist was a child prodigy, giving her first concert in 1951 at the age of 7; she continues to enjoy a busy career as a concerto soloist and recitalist, at home and abroad.  She will just have performed a recital at the Cadogan Hall in London when she comes to Edington. The programme represents a selection of music from her recently released Chopin CD, which has been very well received and critically acclaimed.  Her performances are described by phrases such as “true genius”, “passionate, rhapsodic and totally compelling”, and we are looking forward to sharing an evening with her.
