The Pusker-Konyicska violin and piano Duo

Saturday April 14th 2018

Time 7.30pm

This concert marks a ‘first’ for Edington Arts; the first time we have tried to ‘give something back’ to the world of music which brings us all such pleasure.  We donated the equivalent of an artistic fee, £1000, to the Bursary Fund of IMS Prussia Cove, to enable two musicians to attend their masterclasses in April 2017.  The two Edington Arts bursary recipients were  pianist Renata Konyicska and violinist Julia Pusker, both from Hungary, and they have agreed to give us a concert, as a ‘thank you’ gesture, on April 14th.

Both girls are alumni of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music for Children of Special Talents in Budapest; both have been multiple prize-winners in competitions around Europe since their teens, and having graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2016 they are continuing to carve out successful careers on the concert platform.  We are really privileged to welcome them to Edington as part of their very busy schedules.

IMS Prussia Cove was founded in 1972 in west Cornwall, to create an environment where outstandingly talented young musicians from all over the world could benefit, at a critical point in their careers, from one to one tuition from some of the world’s best instrumentalists. It now holds masterclasses for both soloists and chamber groups in two multi-week sessions a year.  The Artistic Director is the international cellist Steven Isserlis, and his fellow tutors are similarly world class international performers. Please do visit the IMS Prussia Cove website, http://www.i-m-s.org.uk to find out much more about the organisation, its philosophy, its history, and its vision.
