Advent Concert
Saturday 10th December 2016
Time 7.30pm
We are really delighted, and privileged, to be able to welcome the choir of Magdalen College Oxford to sing Advent music in a concert on Saturday 10th December. The all-male choir has been brilliantly reviewed both for recordings and live performances, with its trebles coming in for particular praise alongside the sensitivity and incisiveness of its interpretations.
Edington Priory Church has a near-perfect acoustic for choral music, as anyone who has been to the Edington Music Festival will know; candlelight and beautiful music sung by a pre-eminent choir will create a wonderful atmosphere, and the mulled wine and mince pies in the interval will all add to the festive feel.
Last year’s concert from the Choir of Merton College proved extremely popular, and tickets for the Magdalen College concert are already selling fast, so if you’d like to come, please buy your tickets soon! The Front Nave is now sold out, and there are very few remaining in the rear nave and choir stalls.
The choir’s conductor will be Assistant Organist Alex Berry, and Organ Scholar William Fox will accompany as well as playing some solo pieces. Click on the links below to hear samples of two items in the programme.
