Britten and Elgar Choral Workshop – at last!

Saturday 22nd October 2022

Time 10am -5.30pm

Two years, one Pandemic and two cancellations later, we are delighted that the Edington Arts Choral Workshop looking at Britten’s ‘Rejoice in the Lamb’ and Elgar’s ‘Great is the Lord’, is back on the menu under the leadership of Simon Carrington, with four cracking soloists and a great organist.  The day will start with registration from 9.30am in Edington Priory Church, and end after tea and cake with a full run-through at 5pm.

Both works are British, but very different, and each comes with its own challenges.  We will be encouraged, tutored and enthused by one of the great international choral directors, Simon Carrington.  Wiltshire born, a founder member of the Kings Singers and double bass player, Simon enjoyed a distinguished choral directing career in the States from 1994 onwards, culminating in Professor of Conducting at Yale University.  He now regularly conducts concerts, workshops and masterclasses around the world.

We are also lucky to have the talents of Huw Williams, Organist at Bath Abbey, and four experienced, highly recommended soloists,. If you have never been lucky enough before to sing either of these works, this workshop will be an ideal opportunity to experience their magic.
