Choral Workshop with Andrew Carwood

Saturday 10th June 2017

Time 9.30 - 6.00

This will be our third choral workshop, building on the great success of the first two. Andrew Carwood is Director of Music at St Paul’s Cathedral and Director of The Cardinall’s Musick, and formerly Director of the Schola at the Edington Music Festival. We are delighted that he will be coming to Edington Priory Church to spend a day working with us on what is possibly Handel’s greatest composition, Dixit Dominus.

Chances for most of us to sing this amazing showpiece are relatively rare, although the great choral ensembles like The Sixteen, The Cardinall’s Musick and the Monteverdi Choir all have it in their repertoire.

Andrew is an acknowledged expert on music of the period.  He is also a supremely talented conductor, and a wonderful raconteur – so this workshop will be one hugely entertaining and stimulating day.   Our soloists all have associations with the Edington Music Festival, and our accompanist will be Chris Totney, Head of Keyboard at St Mary’s Calne and a long term supporter of music in the Priory Church.

You can download an application-form, as well as information about the-work and about Andrew and the soloists ( dramatis-personae ) by clicking the links. The day will run from registration from 9.30am, and finish by 6pm after an informal but adrenalin-fuelled run through (rather than a concert performance) to which all are invited.
