SANSARA
Saturday 22nd June 2019
Time 7.30pm
SANSARA is, according to Peter Phillips, Director of The Tallis Scholars, “the a capella sound of the future”.
As a collective body of voices, a choir is a living, breathing instrument with unparalleled expressive potential. SANSARA works as a chamber ensemble without a single director or conductor, resulting in a highly engaged and versatile group of professional muisicians, working together with a unified voice to express a shared artistic vision. Their music-making is direct and honest, always striving to conjure compelling atmospheres, communicating with clarity and integrity.
They have rapidly gained a reputation for captivating performances of a broad range of repertoire, and we are honoured and delighted that they will be bringing to Edington Priory Church a programme of music from their ‘Music of the Spires’ concert series. This series is their celebration of the English choral tradition with a focus on repertoire from the Tudor period and present day. Each concert features a selection of music from sources held in the unparalleled collections of Oxford’s famous libraries as well as new pieces by their Associate Composers and others, combining to create programmes of great spiritual depth and sonic beauty in atmospheric and historic settings.
Programme details are alongside; there is likely to be heavy demand for this concert, so if you are one of our choral music devotees, then don’t delay booking your tickets!
