The King’s Singers come ‘home’ to Edington

Britain is extremely lucky to have a number of really excellent choral ensembles, but perhaps the best known globally, and which has a huge international following, is The King’s Singers.  Over the years since its foundation by King’s College Cambridge Choral Scholars in 1968, quite a few of their number have sung in Edington as part of the Festival of Music within the Liturgy, before leaving to take up influential roles within the world of choral music. Three of them have also taken time out of their later prestigious careers to run Choral Workshops for us. Two of the current line-up have sung in the Festival as adults, and their newest recruit, Joey Edwards, sang in the Nave Choir as a treble in the early 2000s. So it is with great excitement that we will be welcoming them to the Priory Church on FRIDAY 15th May to perform a concert for us.

The programme will combine pieces from their library of unique close-harmony songs, and music by some of the greatest European composers of Romantic chansons and part songs in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The whole programme will share their complete mastery of complex music, delivered seamlessly with emotional sensitivity and intelligence, perceptiveness, and a joyful demonstration British humour and wit.
