Advent Concert: the Choir of Somerville College, Oxford

Saturday 7th December

Time 7.30pm

Somerville College choir is young by Oxford standards, and, like the College’s founders, is non-denominational. Its membership comprises Choral Scholars from Somerville, and Choral Exhibitioners (as well as other auditioned singers) from the University community, and several Organ Scholars. Their repertoire ranges widely, while still balancing the Anglican choral tradition with secular music from an eclectic, and inclusive, range of composers.  They have toured and recorded extensively, and under their dynamic young Director, Will Dawes, (formerly with Stile Antico),  have earned an formidable reputation, both within Oxford and much more widely within the UK.

We are excited to be exploring Advent and Christmas music a little more widely, and this concert will be an absolute cracker – as always! A selection of items from their programme is featured here; more delights in store on the night!
